To begin, you will need the following ingredients:

  • 12 fresh jalapeño peppers
  • 8 oz of cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup of cooked and crumbled bacon (approximately 5-6 slices)
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooking spray or olive oil for greasing

Now, let’s get started:

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). While waiting for your oven to heat up, gather all your ingredients on the kitchen counter.

Step 2: Take your jalapeño peppers and slice them in half lengthwise. Carefully remove the seeds and membranes using a small spoon or knife. If you prefer less heat, make sure to remove as many seeds as possible. This step can be a bit tricky, so be cautious! You may want to wear gloves to protect your hands from the oils.

Step 3: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, crumbled bacon, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix everything together until thoroughly blended. This creamy filling is what makes the poppers so irresistible!

Step 4: Using a spoon or a piping bag, fill each jalapeño half with the cheese and bacon mixture. Don’t be shy—load them up generously! I like to make sure they are heaping for that extra flavor in every bite.

Step 5: Place the stuffed jalapeños on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or lightly greased with cooking spray. This will prevent sticking and make cleanup easier. If you want, you can sprinkle some extra cheddar cheese on top for a cheesy finish.

Step 6: Bake the jalapeño poppers in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the peppers are tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden brown. Keep an eye on them to ensure they don’t burn!

Step 7: Once they are done, remove them from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. This will help prevent burns when you take that first bite. Serve them warm, and watch them disappear faster than you can say “jalapeño poppers!”

Baked jalapeño poppers with cream cheese and bacon are always a hit, and I love how versatile they can be. You could add spices like cumin or different cheeses according to your preference. Enjoy your homemade creation, and don’t forget to share them with friends and family—they might just ask for the recipe!
